In the Kakuma refugee camp and Kalobeyei settlement in Kenya, there are significantly high rates of youth unemployment driven by limited access to vocational training.
Currently, only 20% of the youth in these areas possess practical skills. While many young people are eager to learn catering and culinary arts, they lack access to a professional training facility. This skills gap leaves them unable to secure employment or start their own businesses, leading to an increase in poverty, reduced independence, and a heavy reliance on aid
From Learning to Livelihoods
The Youth Empowerment and Nurturing Initiative (YENI) is raising funds to construct and fully equip a Professional Catering Training Kitchen. This facility will serve as the foundation for our catering, culinary, and entrepreneurship training programs. By providing a dedicated space with the right tools, we can move youth through a structured pipeline: from hands-on instruction to internships, and finally to employment or small business ownership
How Your Donation is Used
We need to raise a total of KES 1,850,000 (USD $14,225) to bring this kitchen to life. Here is exactly how the funds will be allocated:

Construction and Setup KES 999,306.00 (USD $7,725): Building the classroom, kitchen space, fittings, and utilities.

Equipment and Utensils KES 840,840.00 (USD $6,500): Purchasing industrial cookers, ovens, cooking pots, preparation tables, storage cabinets, water/sanitation facilities, and essential safety equipment.
